 Bestduty Cast Iorn Pot Review

My hubby likes nothing more than to build a fire and cook. He spends a huge amount of energy selecting just the right twigs and logs, then weeks before deciding on a menu and a shopping list. With this amount of care and energy, it would be a given, that you would want your cookware to match your effort!

He loves to use this pot making curry, stews and even bread over the campfire, even at home he will hurl it out. We have had this cast iron pot for several years and it has really stood the test of time.

The pot in my photograph taken at our campsite at Golden-gate National Park in the Free State is a Bestduty cast iron pot.

Best Duty Pot (Bake) #12 Size 5.0L.
It is a heavy WEIGHT7.25 kg
DIMENSIONS 380 × 350 × 130 mm
VOLUMETRIC 3.45
It sells for around R700 but will be working every penny and would be more than likely a lifetime buy with years of use.

On their website they state the following:
  • "Traditional quality, heavy-duty and very robust bake pot for the best potjie / baking experience
  • Oil cured & ready to use
  • Price includes VAT
Our Cast Iron bake pots are oil-cured and ready for use. They are heavy-duty, very robust, and can be used in an open fire, over warm coals, on a stovetop, and in the oven. The flat, round cast-iron potjie, sometimes called a Dutch Oven, is not only ideal for not only potjie-kos and stews but also perfect for bread, puddings, and other bakes. This is the most versatile pot of the Potjie family. Oil cured pots are NOT dishwasher safe and will rust if not cleaned, dried, and stored properly. See our How To Care page for more detail".Bestduty Cast Iron Pot Review
