I know what the title says, however, this delightful paperback goes on every camping trip with me. It has beautiful photographs and provides excellent information on butterfly cycles, starting from the eggs to the lava stage, then onto the pupa, and finally the end product, the insect, in this case, the butterfly or moth.

I experience great delight when I can identify a butterfly or moth and this small book makes this exercise so much easier. The book highlights 95 of the most common ones we will find.

They also have a chapter covering plants that attract butterflies, which is very helpful when you are out walking. I make a bee-line for those particular plants and hopefully get to see some of my favorite butterflies and take a few photos of course!

I purchased my copy at Readers Warehouse inside the Lifestyle Centre in Randpark Ridge. It is published by Struik Nature (Penguin Random Random House SA) and printed on FCS certified paper. I noticed it's now also available in ebook format. Today I noticed it was also available on Take A Lot for a very reasonable price.

Note, that author Steve Woodall has another butterfly book, Field Guide to the butterflies of South Africa, which I will need to look out for and add to my book collection.

Do I recommend this book, absolutely without hesitation? It's been well used and well-traveled!
