Everest Base-camp Trek 20th March 2022 to 5th April 2022

This year after a two-year wait due to covid, we can now finally pick up where we left off and trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. We leave on the 18th March 2022 and fly to Kathmandu, Nepal, to start our trek, 5 post-menopausal ladies in our 50's on a great Himalayan adventure!

Each of us will be trekking to EBC for different reasons and passions. For me, it will be to create awareness of PTSD in firefighters and paramedics and to honour our fallen five brothers, #JoburgFD5, Dan, and Mike, who were killed in the Nedbank fire, and Muedi, Ndo, and Marops, killed in the controversial Lisbon Bank Fire.

Personally, I do not like to work with or hike with a bunch of women. There are always spats and drama, men are far less complicated and just get on with it. The whole idea of getting away from your day-to-day stress, healing your soul and your mind, becomes a bloody nightmare. The reason why I prefer solo hiking to group hiking is that I can really enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains.  We will highlight why we think trekking and backpacking often end up going pear-shaped.

We are hoping to show the younger lot what happens when we' old ladies' trek together, in the Himalayas, with a strong experienced female leader.

Stay tuned for updates!

Yours in Adventure
