The Team Zodwa Project - reach out be a hero: Christmas day lunch for the homeless

Not forgetting the homeless on Christmas day. Mother Theresa said: "if you can't feed a l00 then just feed 1" words to live by and true Ubuntu! As a New Year approaches I hope many will pledge to do more for those who have very little or nothing. Not because it's your duty or you owe someone but because it's the human thing to do. It's called humanity and the world can surely need a lot more kindness.

On Christmas day while I was on the beat in the inner city my hubby and sons took out food to our regular group of homeless men as part of our Friday nights weekly CornerStone Feeding Programme. We feed around 400 men and today we had a smaller group as most have managed to go home for Christmas and will be back in the new year. Hubby bought and donated chicken which he cooked and made a delicious chicken stew. Cold coke in a cooler box and hubby, my son's and Tony made off to make sure at least a few men would sleep with full tummies Christmas night. Sad to think that 12 million South Africans go to bed hungry every night nearly 3 million of them children. Thank you to hubby,Tony and Christopher for the donations.

The mountains are alive with...chocolate!

  My family recently spent a week at Monk's Cowl camping site, deep in the Drakensberg mountains, and we were blessed to be able to hike every day. We have passed this little spot nestled within the 'Valley", as the locals refer to the area, a couple of times, but never went inside. Today we finally did and what a little bustling area, in the middle of the sticks, supported by both tourists and locals alike.  Beautifully wrapped up chocolate slabs in dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate. According to the lady behind the counter, who gave us all a detailed description, the white chocolate has a hint of caramel and vanilla bourbon. I love caramel so this was an instant hit with me, and found it sweet and could definitely taste the vanilla bourbon. Next was the dark chocolate, my daughter and husband's favourite chocolate. As a little girl I had dreamed and wished that I would be able to see this incredible building before I die and here I was standing in front of this incredible church.   So much myth and legend has followed this breathtaking building and its surprising that little seems to be known about this church.
