Russian Adventure: St Basil's cathedral - Red Square

Image
copyright Kim Williams This was a dream come true to be standing in front of the this huge gingerbread house that I had wondered about my entire life. As a little girl I had dreamed and wished that I would be able to see this incredible building before I die and here I was standing in front of this incredible church.   So much myth and legend has followed this breathtaking building and its surprising that little seems to be known about this church. I cannot begin to explain the absolute joy I felt. Only slightly mared by taking along the wrong travel partner who turned out to be rather difficult, but I will be back and one day  to share it with my hubby and family. Pushing aside my disappointment I was going to enjoy my Red ...

As a Christmas present I received a magnificent book,  HIDDEN JOHANNESBURG by Paul Duncan and Alain Proust highlighting 28 of Johannesburg's stunning old buildings, steeped in history, one of which is my very own parish church, St Charles in Victory park, fondly known as the Lemon Squeezer!
