Teenagers glowing with ambition

Early this month, 80 grade nine and ten learners from Weenen, Ntabamhlophe and Msinga attended back-to-back boys and girls leadership camps at Wagendrift Dam Youth Centre.
Each four-day camp, called Camp Glow: Guys/Girls Leading Our World, included fun sessions on leadership, goal-setting, decision-making, HIV biology and transmission, reproductive health, gender, relationships, and community service.
Campers also got to participate in dramas, debate, swimming, sports and a talent show.
The facilitators were youth from Simunye Youth Development Project in Weenen (Sthembiso Mtshali, Nkosinathi Welcome, Sphesihle Khumalo, Snenhlanhla Madondo, Silindile Dumakude and Sindiswa Madonsela) and Meals on Wheels Community Services in Estcourt (Fezeka Malinga).
Campers were able to network and make new friends from other areas, while learning how to become peer leaders and bring the information they learned at camp home to their own communities.
Congratulations to all learners that graduated Camp Glow!
If you would like to become involved or sponsor future camps, please contact Simunye Youth Development Project at 076 9439 682 or email simunyeyouth@gmail.com.
