CSI with a purpose: The Team Zodwa Project /Eatfesh Corporate Caring and Sharing Day

Event: The Team Zodwa Project/EatFresh Corporate Caring and Sharing Day
In Partnership with: Meals on Wheels SA
Hosted by: Discovery CSI
@ Bella Vista, South of Johannesburg

Recently I was thrilled to partner with EatFresh South Africa to launch our Team Zodwa Eatfresh Corporate Caring and Sharing day. These events were inspired by "Make very day a Mandela Day".

So what is our Corporate Caring
and Sharing Day?.

This is where you as a corporate can come together and join us with your (Corporate Social Investment) initiatives out in the field to have a day of fun, all for a good cause and with a purpose. The day can be a just a morning or a full day as a once off annual event. It can also be continued as a weekly or monthly initiative for your Corporate Volunteer Programmes.

A needs analysis is completed on the project at hand in order for both the corporate and beneficiaries to gain maximum outcomes.  On the day various activities will be arranged to meet these needs whether it be preparing or handing out meals, bringing along donated toys, play time, painting, gardening, building and play area make-overs and handyman needs to name just  a few.

Our first event was held in Bella Vista, South of Johannesburg. Discovery hosted the event.. Over 850 children where give a delicious cooked meal. The staff of Discovery cooked up a storm and a lot of laughter could be heard as all the chopping of the vegetables and food preparations commenced.

This falls under our Meals on Wheels SA Bella Vista Feeding project.

While the enticing aromas could be smelt from afar the rest of the team was busy in the hot sun digging trenches and preparing beds under the watchful eye of Izaak Booysens, the founder of the Bella Vista Jungle Tots Community Vegetable Garden. Meals on Wheels has partnered Izaak in the garden and great plans are underway.

Some of the other staff volunteers came across to the Jungle Tots Pre-School, founded by Elizabeth Booysens. She is a dedicated angle in the community and her love for the wellbeing of her "babies" is evident. Toys were brought along and lots of fun and laughter ensued as the  hula hoops and balls came out.

The children loved being read too and once the food was cooked it was time to race to the community hall for a hot meal. For most of these kids this is a treat and the only meal they will get for the entire day and for some even longer.
