Team Zodwa Caring and Sharing Day (TM)

 This year Team Zodwa in partnership with EatFresh, launched our Caring and Sharing Events inspired by "Make every day a Mandela day". I am very proud to be part of this initiative and have EatFresh partnering me in this really fantastic Corporate Volunteers Give Back programme.

 Each Caring and Sharing day is unique and is created around the needs of the community for that day. The events can include feeding, cleaning, painting, community gardening and planting trees and plants, reading, playing with the children, sports, to name a few!

 Discovery hosted and sponsored our first event for Meals on Wheels SA held at the community centre at Bella Vista Johannesburg.

"Today in Bellavista, Discovery joined the fight in Fighting Hunger in South Africa. Staff from Discovery wanted to make a difference so they joined hands with Meals on Wheels to feed over 700 of our Beneficiaries. They came in full force, cooked, cleaned, played, planted vegetables, gave out sweets, fed, but most importantly showed that they cared. Our sincerest appreciation to all involved. This is truly CHARITY IN MOTION. Thank you DISCOVERY"

Volunteers are grouped into teams and a production line of activity begins.

While some of the teams prepared and cooked a delicious meal others went on to interact and play with the children, with toys they bought along.



Several of the volunteers are keen gardeners and lent their expertise and rolled up their sleeves to dos some bed preparations.




It was time to eat and the kiddies wolfed down their delicious food. Thank you Team Discovery!!

My mate Vicky Sepp from Meals on Wheels and her team did a fantastic job. Salute guys!! We are so looking forward to many of these Caring and Sharing days in 2015.

The mountains are alive with...chocolate!

  My family recently spent a week at Monk's Cowl camping site, deep in the Drakensberg mountains, and we were blessed to be able to hike every day. We have passed this little spot nestled within the 'Valley", as the locals refer to the area, a couple of times, but never went inside. Today we finally did and what a little bustling area, in the middle of the sticks, supported by both tourists and locals alike.  Beautifully wrapped up chocolate slabs in dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate. According to the lady behind the counter, who gave us all a detailed description, the white chocolate has a hint of caramel and vanilla bourbon. I love caramel so this was an instant hit with me, and found it sweet and could definitely taste the vanilla bourbon. Next was the dark chocolate, my daughter and husband's favourite chocolate. Russian Adventure: St Basil's cathedral - Red Square

As a little girl I had dreamed and wished that I would be able to see this incredible building before I die and here I was standing in front of this incredible church.   So much myth and legend has followed this breathtaking building and its surprising that little seems to be known about this church.
