Charity in Motion - Transforming lives!

This is a special year of celebration for Meals on Wheels South Africa.

This is the year that they celebrate 50 years as an NGO providing a community service driven by very passionate and dedicated people.

50 years ago Meals on Wheels started off delivering cooked meals to the aged and many years later it now assists vulnerable communities as a whole from the aged right down to the newborn.

Today they have 512 service points and in 2014 a whooping 11.8million meals were served to vulnerable South Africans. This is remarkable and a tribute to their neverending quest to quell hunger in our country. 12.5 million people go to bed hungry every night right here in South Africa.                                                                              They say charity starts at home and this is what Meals on Wheels do every day for hungry South Africans.

The Gauteng celebration was held at the Indaba Hotel in Johannesburg. it was a fantastic evening with many great guest speakers.

As the proud Ambassador for Meals on Wheels, I was asked to give a little speech on my 9 Peaks Challenge initiative for Meals on Wheels, my recent summit of Mt Ainos (a European Ultra), Mt Kilimanjaro and future adventures that will benefit Meals on Wheels. A "flag handing over" ceremony was conducted. I very proudly handed over the Meals on Wheels flag and my Team Zodwa 9 Peaks Flag to the Chairman of the Meals on Wheels Board, Mr T. Letseli. Very humbling and proud moment for me!

Lots of great food and entertainment with the launch of the Meals on Wheels signature song - "keep the wheels turning". It was a great evening with warm tributes and I was thrilled that most of my 9 peaks challenge 2014 team were able to come along for the celebrations.
