Household contents Donation!!

We are very lucky that many people that follow me on facebook and friends known about the charity work I do so from time to time I get a call to come and collect items.  This was one of these calls. A good mate of mine Vanessa's mom-in-law Daphne Yelseth, had a friend of hers recently pass away. She called me to come and collect clothing, linen,sewing items, material and wool and a few household goodies.


Alan from Meals on Wheels and I managed to fill the entire Peugeot Panel van!!



I had such unexpected mixed feeling when doing  this. I arrived back from an event where we had just opened a new revamped Randburg fire station and I went straight from this event to the house.

below was my facebook post:

 "My mate Vanessa Yelseth awesome mom in law Daphne Yelseth donated a huge amount of clothing linen and goodies from her friend's deceased estate. It was with mixed emotions I helped to pack away a stranger's life, dig into her personal space. I did not know her but I could not help but get a lump in my throat as I went through her life and how she lived. I think I would have really liked her. All her treasures will now move into someone elses life. In one aspect so sad and in the other so many other needy people's lives are about to be touched. So in essence her legacy will live on. Thank you".

 Then my poor Meals on Wheels mate Vicky Sepp had to sort all the goodies out. She filled her mom's entire verandah!

The mountains are alive with...chocolate!

  My family recently spent a week at Monk's Cowl camping site, deep in the Drakensberg mountains, and we were blessed to be able to hike every day. We have passed this little spot nestled within the 'Valley", as the locals refer to the area, a couple of times, but never went inside. Today we finally did and what a little bustling area, in the middle of the sticks, supported by both tourists and locals alike.  Beautifully wrapped up chocolate slabs in dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate. According to the lady behind the counter, who gave us all a detailed description, the white chocolate has a hint of caramel and vanilla bourbon. I love caramel so this was an instant hit with me, and found it sweet and could definitely taste the vanilla bourbon. Next was the dark chocolate, my daughter and husband's favourite chocolate. Russian Adventure: St Basil's cathedral - Red Square

As a little girl I had dreamed and wished that I would be able to see this incredible building before I die and here I was standing in front of this incredible church.   So much myth and legend has followed this breathtaking building and its surprising that little seems to be known about this church.
