World Duthalon Champs Calais France

I was blessed enough to have my own practice as a Sports and Rehabilitation Therapist. I ran my practice from Medfem Medical suites in Sandton opposite Sandton clinic. I had the privilege of treating many national, international and olympic athletes over the 12 years. From the Springbok rugby team to the Olympic Wheelchair basketball teams, to cyclists, triathletes, duathletes, bodybuilders, power lifters, dancers, some of the SA Cricketers,  celebrities and actors. I got to travel overseas with some of the teams. I was lucky enough to work along side Dr Brad Beira and share rooms with him. Sadly 12 years of punishing my hands and elbows took its toll and I had to stop practicing. At the time I was a reservesit with the City of Johannesburg Fire Department. I was blessed to receive a full bursary to study further with the City of Johannesburg and later qualified as an Advanced Life Support Paramedic. so now I still "heal" my patients but in a different way and from treating healthier patients I now treat the very sick, injured and dying patients!

This was one of the most special trips for me The World Duathlon Champs Calais, France. We had a big team that went over seas. I was also awarded my SA Colours one of only two Sports Therapists to have this honour in South Africa.

One of our athletes Nic Sacco won gold for SA and many others won medicals.  One of our youngest athletes has a problem with his sugar and myself and the team captain and some of the senior members of the team grabbed the South African flag and we ran side by side with him across the finish line, even though he finished stone last we still got his world medal. I cried my eyes out. Such a treasured moment.

managed to get a little sight seeing in - love old buildings and their history!!
