National Rescue & Extrication Champs-Toughest Fire Fighter Challenge

This was awesome dirty and sweaty fun!!!
our sponsors!
We were the only all girl team to take part in this competition and were entered into the Advanced Section due to the fact that some of us had competed in the World Extrication and Rescue champs previously.

we were thrilled to have come 4th in one of the evolutions!! The "Jaws" and other extrication equipment is very heavy but once the adrenaline pumps you don't notice the weight! the competition has 3 sections or evolutions. 1: a Rapid evolution - 10 mins in which to complete the task and remove a patient from a "crashed car" . 2: Limited Evolutions: 20 minutes where you are only allowed to use hand tools no hydraulic tools (Jaws, cutters etc) 3: Unlimited Evolution: 20 minutes where you can use all your hand tools and hydraulic equipment to remove the patient.

we took part in the first Toughest Fire Fighter challenge to to held in South Africa.  This is very touch as you have to run in full bunker gear with a 20kg shoulder pack.  you have to first run up 4 flights of stairs then drop your pack down then run back down two flights then we had to pull up the full length of a 20kg hose that was hanging down onto the floor below. then run back down and hit a heavy hammer against an object and slide it a couple of metres, then we had to run 50 metres and pick up a hose then shoot water at an object, knock it over, then run 50 metres and pick up an 80kg doll and drag it another 50km till the end - all of this with a BA (breathing apparatus) and full gear. each person that completed the task was awarded a real brass "toughest firefighter" belt buckle - I wear mine with proud and am reminded of the sweat blood and tears it took to earn it!!
