I am thrilled and very proud that Lesley Anne van Selm founder of Khulisa Social Solutions asked me to partner them in various projects.  They are a phenomenal organization making huge changes for good with South Africa and I look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnerships.

Khulisa establishes Corporate Volunteer Programme (CVP)

Khulisa has established its collaborative Corporate Volunteer Programme (CVP) to offer corporate and employee volunteers an opportunity to effect the change they want to see in deprived communities. Corporates and employees are able to invest directly into sustainable community development initiatives.
Khulisa has identified a number of opportunities for corporate staff engagement such as: participating in events, sharing skills and knowledge, mentoring youth and community workers, job placement and investing towards projects and initiatives. The benefits for employees and corporates include: opportunities to engage in practical and effective team build-ing, community development and involvement and enhanced leadership and project management skills.

 Successful projects have included:
  1. Partnering with Team Zodwa, an NGO, to assist Woolworths’ employees exe-cute their corporate volunteer programme at Reatile Crèche in Tembisa. Woolworths donated books to the crèche and spent time playing with chil-dren. The employees facilitated exercises aimed at the children’s personal growth and development.
     
  2. A past partnership with Investec involved a bottle tops recycling project that exchanged 50 000 bottle tops for a wheelchair. In May 2013, 14 wheelchairs were received and donated to charity organisations and disabled individuals at a handover ceremony held in Westbury Community Youth Centre.

The mountains are alive with...chocolate!

  My family recently spent a week at Monk's Cowl camping site, deep in the Drakensberg mountains, and we were blessed to be able to hike every day. We have passed this little spot nestled within the 'Valley", as the locals refer to the area, a couple of times, but never went inside. Today we finally did and what a little bustling area, in the middle of the sticks, supported by both tourists and locals alike.  Beautifully wrapped up chocolate slabs in dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate. According to the lady behind the counter, who gave us all a detailed description, the white chocolate has a hint of caramel and vanilla bourbon. I love caramel so this was an instant hit with me, and found it sweet and could definitely taste the vanilla bourbon. Next was the dark chocolate, my daughter and husband's favourite chocolate. Russian Adventure: St Basil's cathedral - Red Square

As a little girl I had dreamed and wished that I would be able to see this incredible building before I die and here I was standing in front of this incredible church.   So much myth and legend has followed this breathtaking building and its surprising that little seems to be known about this church.
