9 days to go...the strategic plan according to Pamela Buckle

9 days to go......the strategic plan according to Pamela Buckle

Still so much to do - the reality is setting in - and a bit of panic too!! What seemed so distant not so long ago is here and the butterflies have hit massive turbulence in the proverbial tummy!!

Has been really cool that so many people are interested in what we are about to do and I hope it will inspire you all to go out and adventure with a purpose.

Busy with all the logistics and we will be fitted with tracking devices so everyone can see where we are at - we will also be able to download and record all this information. It will be really interesting to see where we were when this information will be valuable in setting the required pace for our corporate charity challenges  - therefore what would be a reasonable cut-off time for our future events especially as its geared for the average man or women in the street wanting to Adventure with a purpose. Big shout out to our big gadgets sponsor Rene Winter (also in the men's Team Blue) from Wintec Solutions http://www.wintecsolutions.co.za/.

They have arranged sponsorships with Runtastic http://www.wintecsolutions.co.za/runtastic/ who will be our Official Tracking Device for the 9 Peaks Challenge - tracking us on the mountain and capturing our altitude, km.s on foot, our path we follow and more I am told!!  Follow our   nine peaks on FB

Powertraveller  http://www.wintecsolutions.co.za/powertraveller/will be powering all our gadgets and devices with the lastest in high tech solar power. I can see lots of happy boys on our trip!!

With a group of 4 girls -Team Pink and 4 boys - Team Blue, some guidelines have had to come about and of course it would be the ladies who have drawn the line in the sand.  While we were at the launch at Wintec Solutions Pamela decided it was rather apt to draw up our battle plan on Rene Winter's marketing gadget booklet.
Rule no. 1: we have the rogue selfies - our camera's attached to pink balloons no less. Girl's version of a drone!!

Rule no. 2: we have the fierce Wolf Dogs that attacked Kobus on his solo summit - urban legend - not sure - the wild pink look in his eyes convince me that they will be after us too!!

Rule no 3: Pamela will ride on a pink mountain pony - of course she will be climbing in style no less and chasing off the wild dogs throwing pink marshmallows at them as she races off into the sunset. Singing on the top of her voice " here she comes...riding her pony....here she come around the mountain..her she comes......

Rule no 4: Irene is the team's snake charmer - if there is one tiny little snake in a huge field of pink cosmos - Irene will come across it  - so Irene will be taking along her pink charm to charm the scales off all the snakes making safe passage for all - prompted of course by the Berg Adder that attacked Kobus on his solo challenge - having been zapped by a berg adder myself, on my boot some many years ago while hiking I need to know that this slithery situation is well under control!! Irene will be the hero within the group and everyones bestie!!

Rule no 5: Sane is a self confessed selfie specialist and as the youngest and most hip member of our team it would be expected.  We will see Sane taking selfie after selfie with her pink camera striking all sorts of weird poses - just seeing her in the boot of the sponsored Peugeot and her hysterically funny selfies at the launch we will be entertained no stop on the peaks. We will loose her now and then as she wonders off between the pink wild flowers but luckily we have Rene's tracking device and the drone pink balloons to bring her back to us! She will be packing an extra memory card, pink of course.

Rule no 6:Kim - that's me!! is seen sliding on her bum down the side of the mountain - why apparently I am the dare devil of the team - not sure what gives everyone that impression - perhaps its my crazy job in the fire department sitting on my pink fire engine,  roasting pink marshmallows I stole from Pam while everyone else does the hero stuff!! but that said and done I am a bit off the plantation and eat adrenaline for breakfast!

Meanwhile:  while Team Pink is sweating it out on the mountains and freezing our pink booties off where is Team Blue? which leads to rule no 7 - this is the real reason the boys are coming along - oh and to see us on a summit with our pj's on!! Just wait boys we have so much in store for you and it does involve pink - so be afraid be very afraid.....

Rule no 7: Meanwhile back at the ranch : Legend Mountain Man Sean has rounded up the boys, the boys of course will not argue - have you seen the size of  that man!! Kobus has got the fire going, being the real Afrikaner man from Pretoria who knows how to braai lekker wors and steak, it was a given who would be making fire - eish so caveman hey!!  Rene has devices and gadgets all over the mountain with the boys voices echoing from them, in the not so distant corner - which of course we are blindly following - but alas the boys are all sitting roasting the whole stash of Pamela's pink marshmallows - this can't be good. Rene has spy camera's and drones which send feedback to the camp fire to keep them entertained while we do the actual work. But it does give Sean the time to have the boys sitting around a warm fire, singing "kumbaya", Kobus on his banjo, Rene on his solar powered keyboards while Sean reads his awesome stories of his mountain adventures from his newly published book "Poles Apart and some pointy its in between". Jordan on the other hand will plead his innocence in all this and say that the other three made him leopard crawl past the girls to steel the marshmallows, stuff them in his backpack,  then voluntarily got the boys to lower him  and belay him off the cliff face - in Army Ranger style, no less, to their man cave where they eat up the evidence.

Rule no. 8: This one is for our master chef,  trailer driver and life saver, hot shower operator, Potjiekos maker.  Gershon who we have only allowed to come along because he told us he cooks a mean curry and with the surname Naidoo who would not believe him. Because he is a Naidoo we also know that he can organize and organize he has - hot portable showers - gas stove - fridge - trailer and wait... theres more.  So he will become very useful along the way. He has also promised to wear pink high heels and pose with a selfie - with the girls. we can't pass that one up!!

Rule no.9: The bright pink Land Rovers and Peugeots - the most important part of our trip without Land Rover Pietermaritzburg and Peugeot Pinetown we would not have wheels to move between the peaks and support our Meals on Wheels project - so a big shout out to both of you for being very very very brave and bold to wrap your vehicles in bright shocking pink - you oakes are legend!!
